About the Role
Case Management and Support: Provide social emotional support to children and families, utilizing evidence-based practices to promote emotional well-being and resilience. Connecting them with necessary resources, services, and community programs to support their needs and strengthen familial relationships and improve communication.
Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, community organizations, and stakeholders to coordinate services and resources for families and promote public safety efforts.
Education and Outreach: Conduct workshops and informational sessions for families and community members to raise awareness about the challenges faced by children of incarcerated parents.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and confidential records of client interactions, assessments, and progress notes in accordance with organizational policies and legal requirements.
Professional Development: Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in social work and trauma-informed care.
Working Conditions:
This position may involve occasional travel within the community to meet clients and attend events.
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.
Requirements
A bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field
2 years of experience working with children or families facing adversity, such as trauma, loss, or incarceration.
Strong communication and active listening skills to build trust with children and families while maintaining confidentiality in a supportive, non-judgmental environment.
Demonstrated empathy and compassion for children facing the challenges of parental incarceration.
Culturally sensitive and aware of diversity to effectively support individuals from various backgrounds.
Familiar with the NASW Code of Ethics and adherence to ethical guidelines of social work practice.
Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals, such as peer support specialist, parents, clinical staff, case managers, and educators, to provide holistic support to children and families.
Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing platforms such as Zoom.
