Volunteer/ Intern Interest Form

Requirements

Minimum Age: Volunteers and interns must be at least 18 years old to work directly with minors.

Background Checks: All volunteers and interns must pass a comprehensive criminal background check prior to starting work with minors. This includes screening for any history of child abuse, neglect, or violent offenses. Sex offender registry checks will also be conducted.

Student intern reference checks: Provide at least two personal, professional or academic references who can verify the volunteer or intern's suitability to work with minors.

Interview and Orientation: All volunteers and interns must undergo an interview and attend an orientation session outlining organizational policies, safety protocols, and expectations.

Training requirements: 

1) First Aid/CPR Certification: Volunteers and interns are required to obtain and maintain a valid and current First Aid and CPR certification.

2) Mental Health First Aid: Volunteers and interns are required to obtain and maintain a valid and current Mental Health First Aid certification for Youth within the first 90 days. This training teaches the skills needed to recognize and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health and substance use challenges, how to provide someone with support and connect them with professional help, identifying risk factors and warning signs for mental health and addiction.
